About me

This is Shuman and I’m a composer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, bamboo flute, drum set, guitar, and percussions. My greatest passion has always been music, and it has influenced every decision I have made ever since when I was young. Started learning piano when I was five, I also chose to learn bamboo flute as well, which helped me get into the Chinese traditional instruments’ orchestra in primary school. Becoming familiar with modern music, I began taking guitar and drum set lessons at age 11. With all those musical training and experience, I joined the high school orchestra as a percussionist and played multiple percussion instruments such as vibraphone, xylophone, marimba, bell, and triangle where there was a vacancy.

My greatest strength as producer and composer is that I have experience in both producing pop/electronic dance music and writing orchestral music. I could apply all these to film scoring because I am versatile. If a scene is more suitable for orchestral music and as the film director instructed, I’ll write an orchestral score. Still, I’ll use both orchestral and synthesizer elements in my score if a scene needs a synthesizer. With the help of technology, I can be so free and creative in both sound design and composing. Over the past couple of years, I gradually developed my own style as a musician, and I could combine cinematic sound and orchestral elements, use the as a palette to paint with music. I see all music and are all interrelated with each other and those are two of the most powerful things in the world.
